It’s for my mother in law, she asked me to make her this cropped jacket in faux fur. And she precisely asked for this print… If you have been following me for a while you know it’s not my style at all: I don’t like animal print and I don’t like faux fur. The pattern comes from a French woman’s magazine (Avantages)
So this was a little hard for me to do, but I’m glad I did it because I learned some things in the process: mainly how to place pattern pieces to respect the print and how to sew it. Interesting but I would rather not have to do this again! I added a knit lining on this inside – strange stuff too, I’m not sure I like it.
My rotary cutter is now full of fluff and my sewing machine is particularly disgusting – I did not serge the fur because I can’t clean this machine as well as the sewing one.
My husband sent the photos to his mother and she seems to be delighted, and that’s the most important thing isn’t it? She will receive the actual jacket tonight as we are visiting her this weekend, I hope it will fit. She was reluctant to give me her measurements, so I relied on guessing..
Have you already worked with faux fur? How did you like it?
