Inspired by Gillian and by many sewing bloggers, it’s time to stop and look back a little at what I have achieved (or not) in 2012.
Let’s start with the best! Here are my 5 hits for 2012:
I have worn this jacket made of wool nearly every day since the winter has arrived. It is warm, comfy and I feel great in it! I’m very glad I made welt pocket: the placement is perfect, the depth too and I don’t know how I could live without them. As for many other bloggers, the inside pockets are not very useful and if I were to make this jacket again (maybe in a lighter fabric), I would clearly omit them.
One of my most recent makes. It fits great, thanks to the muslin, and I love the fabric. I’m very proud I have managed to insert properly a lining using this great tutorial from Threads magazine.
I don’t wear it very often, but again, I’m happy with the technical aspects of this shirt – the collar is good, I like my sleeve placket and the piping worked well too. Plus the fit is pretty good, as I used my sloper to check it against.
My first successful dress (and by that meaning it fits correctly)! The good fit is due to the making of a muslin first, once again. I really like the fabric and the pattern and I should probably find a way to adapt it to winter. I should start by raising the neckline a little, it’s too low for me and even more for winter.
My second Renfrew T-shirt, still the same version with cowl neck and 3/4 sleeves. I love striped t-shirts, to a point where it’s sometimes hard for me to find non-stripey things in my knits wardrobe! I don’t think the fabric will last very long, the quality is poor, but I like it a lot.
